Hi Friend
I am so relieved and happy to tell you that the doctors at St. Jude released Michael yesterday. His fever is under control, his white blood count is great, and the mouth ulcers are all but gone. Andrea and I are sighing with relief as this week-long battle is behind us. Thank you for your prayers.
Tomorrow (Wednesday 11/13) we meet with doctors to discuss the next waves of Michael's treatment. On Thursday, God willing, Michael begins the next round of chemotherapy. Please pray for him. And our whole family.
One quick note: we get A LOT of advice from friends and strangers urging us to NOT use chemo for Michael's healing. We understand their sentiment. However, this type of cancer is one of the few cancers that chemo has a HUGE success rate in defeating. I repeat, this cancer is defeated over 90% of the time in children using chemo. So, that is the path we are on.
In addition, we are being diligent to feed him the foods that will help defeat cancer, and to keep him away from the foods that feed cancer. So, our path is 1) prayer 2) proper foods, and 3) chemo. Please stand with us, and keep us in your prayers.
Finally, I again ask the mommies and grandmas out there (and daddies and grandpas too!) who want to help and bless our family to send gift cards to the address below. They can be to Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond...really, anyplace that will enable us to finish making our house into a home. We left West Virginia without a stick of furniture. So, we are outfitting a house - including a kitchen! - even as I speak.
